All Okta tenants have a unique subdomain across the entire Okta ecosystem. This is the tenant URL where users log in and with which applications integrate. You should avoid changing the subdomain whenever possible due to the substantial reconfiguration effort described below.
If rebranding, a merger, or an acquisition requires you to change the subdomain and you would like ZeroTek Professional Services to manage this project, email [email protected] to request a meeting to scope the work.
IMPORTANT
Renaming an Okta subdomain requires completing all of the applicable tasks below to ensure no interruption of service. ZeroTek recommends managing this as a project with careful planning and appropriate communications with your customers.
AD Agents: Uninstall and reinstall each AD agent for each domain using the new Okta subdomain. See Installing and Configuring the Active Directory Agent for detailed instructions.
LDAP Agents: Uninstall and reinstall each LDAP agent using the new Okta subdomain. See Install the Okta LDAP Agent for instructions.
Desktop SSO: Uninstall and reinstall each IWA server using the new Okta subdomain. See Configuring Desktop SSO for instructions.
RADIUS Agent: Uninstall and reinstall each Okta RADIUS agent using the new Okta subdomain. See Install and configure the RADIUS Agent for instructions.
RSA SecurID Agent: Uninstall and reinstall each RSA SecurID agent using the new Okta subdomain. See Install and configure the RADIUS Agent for instructions.
API: API tokens do not need to be regenerated, but update any custom code to ensure API endpoints reference the new Okta subdomain.
SSO Applications: For any SAML or WS-Fed integrated applications, review the sign-on setup instructions for each application and update each Service Provider integration with the new Okta subdomain to ensure there are no disruptions in SSO logins.
Okta Verify: Reset all Okta Verify Push enrollments. See Using Okta Verify for instructions.
Custom Domain: If a custom domain is configured, you may need to update the CNAME value of your DNS records to match the new default subdomain.
