User is denied login because device is unexpectedly listed as unmanaged in Okta

Users are denied login to one or more applications. Examining the logs, errors related to the governing authentication policy (referred to as a sign-on policy in the logs) are present:

Cause

A review of the governing authentication policy reveals that access is restricted exclusively to connections from managed devices. For more information on how managed devices are defined and configured in Okta, see Managed devices. Checking Security > Device Integrations, the device appears as unmanaged β€” however, Okta Verify is installed and the certificate is present on the device as expected:

Resolution

Most conditions that cause this behavior can be resolved by quitting and restarting Okta Verify. Right-click the Okta Verify icon in the system tray and choose Quit, then relaunch Okta Verify from the Start menu.

If this does not resolve the issue, restart the device completely and try logging in again.

If the issue persists, collect the Okta Verify logs from the device and email them to ZeroTek Support at [email protected].
